How to use your imagery to help your brain remember

Memory improvement. Picture in your mind can help you remember things, both concrete like faces, and abstract like names. Begin with creating a picture in your mind and then hold it for a few seconds. The picture should be meaningful for you and it can be any kind of picture. Also, give details to your picture. Is the living room in your mind big?

What color is it? How is it decorated? To visualize or create a picture in your mind can be applied for using in daily situation. There’re 4 techniques to apply it:

1 Completing errands. If today you want to buy something from a supermarket, try to visualize the things in your mind. Suppose you want to buy milk, oranges, a shampoo, you may see yourself carrying a bag with all things in it.

2 Reinforcing names and faces. When you first see a person, use imaginary pen to write down the person’s name on his or her face. Check his or her name’s spellings and pronunciation at the same time. To do so, it’ll help you to be familiar with his or her name and face.

3 Navigation travel direction. Use your imaginary to see all the way from one place to another place you want to go. Visualize the route and view of left and right hand sides.

4 Remembering punch line. When you want to share a story that you’ve seen in TV series with your friend, sometimes you forget the punch line. You may visualize key words with bold letters and visualize the stars’ action scenes which are easier to remember.
