Human memory

Generally, there are three types of memory. They are sensory memory, short-term memory, and long-term memory.Sensory memories will act like buffers when you receive stimuli from one or more of your five senses.

human brain The three sensory channels which are iconic memory (visual stimuli), echoic memory (aural stimuli), haptic memory (touching), If you are interested in something, the information you received in sensory memory stage will be sent to short-term memory

Short-term memory is like a notepaper to help you recall the information. Short-term memory has limit ability because you'll forget easily. To increase ability of short-term memory, chunking information can help it. That is why it's easier for you to recall chunk phone number than try to remember it by single long number.

Information is stored in long-term memory in a longer time than in shot-term memory. Episodic memory and semantic memory are the two types of long-term memory. Episodic memory keeps your memory in a form of serial, such as your experiences or events you've found. Semantic memory is like a record of facts and skills. Semantic memory is in Episode memory. Example is when you learn something from your experiences.

There’re three main activities in long-term memory, which are storage, deletion, and retrieval. Information in short-term memory is kept or stored because of repetition. Deletion activity is when the information decay or when you forget. The last activity, retrieval, occurs by recall or recognition.
