Increase ability of your memory by using five senses

Use our five sense effectively.

Have you ever wonder why an actor can remember his long list of roles? He may use all the five senses to assume the character’s lines. The five senses are seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting.
People tend to see what they are interested in and overlook the other things.

Two persons can see the same thing differently. For example, two persons are invited to a party. First person may see how the party room is decorated, see the red sofa, and see a group of pretty girls sitting near the mini bar, while another person may not see those things at all. Instead, he may see only foods of the table, drinks on mini bar, BMW in the car park, and many people in the party.

To improve your sense of seeing, there’re many ways to practice. Use imagine to take a snapshot of the person, scene, thing, and etc. use different colors to help you recall people or things, such as pick is for girl and blue is for boy. Look for a pattern to apply to help you remember. For example, word “MISSISSIPPI”, you may see pattern that after “I” you must double letters.

Hearing is another important sense. Use rhyme to help you remember things. Example, in 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. Also, use similar sounding word to help you recall.

Third sense is touching. It is interconnected with another motor memory or motor skills that will be with us forever. We’ll not forget how to swim, how to type, or how to ride a bicycle even it’s been so long since the last time we tried. To improve your sense of touch, get the feeling of the word when your mind hears it.

Next sense is to smell. To improve the sense, associate smell with certain people you meet. It can be the person’s perfume he always use or smell of her body lotion. Another technique is to link smell with place.

To improve the last sense, taste, you learn to match the taste with the person you meet. For example, Kavin Bacon, Ms.Olivia, and Sherri.
